Shema!

The Shema Yisrael is a Jewish prayer that originated from Deuteronomy 6:4 - Hear, O Israel:  the Lord our God, the Lord is one. Shema means to hear or to obey. This prayer, along with Psalm 133, inspired a poem about how God wants us to be one just as the Father and the Son are one.

John 17:20-23 (NKJV) -

20 “I do not pray for these alone, but also for those who will believe in Me through their word;21 that they all may be one, as You, Father, are in Me, and I in You; that they also may be one in Us, that the world may believe that You sent Me. 22 And the glory which You gave Me I have given them, that they may be one just as We are one: 23 I in them, and You in Me; that they may be made perfect in one, and that the world may know that You have sent Me, and have loved them as You have loved Me. Shema

Shema! Shema!
If you have ears, then hear, listen!
For Yahweh's words are like the rain
Nourishing the earth
His thoughts toward us like dew
Springing new life forth
Remember - Adonai is one, united
And we, His people, are no longer divided
He has given us a new heart
By which we cry, 'Abba Father'
We are His sons and daughters
With His heart we love Him
And we love each other

Shema! Shema!
Hear! Listen!
It touches Yahweh's heart
To see his children dwell as one
We are fathers, mothers, brothers and sisters
From every nation, tribe, and tongue
It pleases Him to see us unified
In it He is glorified
And then His anointing oil flows
From its heavenly store
Enkindling justice, peace, and healing
Commanding His life forevermore
