Light of Life

Isaiah 9:2:

The people who walked in darkness
Have seen a great light;
Those who dwelt in the land of the shadow of death,
Upon them a light has shined.

Light is a funny thing.
It greets us to the morning with a fanfare of colors.
It gives us warmth each day to remind us of faithfulness.
It says farewell every evening in resplendent fashion.
A day is done, but not to worry!
A new one is on the way.
While it is gone, it sends its friends.
It comforts us in the dark,
Painting pictures of animals across the sky.
Its glory shines to remind everyone it is always there,
Reflecting off glass of a passing car, or
Making shadows dance on walls.
It is the true glory of diamonds.
It never fails to perform shows on snowy nights,
Shimmering its way into our memories.
A lamp on a dark street soothes all who see it equally.
It shows us the way on the paths of night.
It is faster than the blink of an eye.
It is often underestimated and underappreciated.
Its explosions are so massive in the birth and death of stars
Yet so tiny in the birth of a human soul.
Light is life, in as many ways as we can understand.
Jesus is light.
Jesus is life.
When he touches people, a light bursts forth in their hearts.
They are filled with light.
They are filled with love.
They belong to Him.
I belong to Him.
Jesus filled me with His love.
Jesus filled me with His light.
Jesus touched my heart, and a light blasted open my stone heart.
I will never be the same.
He can do the same for you.
Remember this the next time gaze at the stars,
Or when the diamond dust of a freezing night dances in your eyes,
Or when a lost soul on a deserted island is found,
For he used the light of a fire to send a message all around.
Every time you look into your son’s or daughter’s eyes,
Remember His light
Remember His life
Remember His love
